About Titania Living — Handcrafted Indian Home Decor UK
Titania grew out of a shared passion for hand crafted Indian textiles and a love of the Indian tent and al fresco dining. These passions, together with the pleasure of living with things imbued with the soul of craftsmanship, led firm friends Charlotte Johnstone, an accomplished designer and portrait painter, and Catherine Eve Trotman, a retail entrepreneur, to harness their skills to give birth to a baby business.
Titania was established whilst Catherine and Charlotte were living and working in India, raising small children. Over the years, family life has often got in the way, but, like the Titania moth from it’s chrysalis, Titania emerges again every Summer and our gorgeous brood, now all young adults, have all played their part along the way!
Printed and tailored in India, Titania's garden umbrellas have removable canopies with a canvas outer and an integral hand printed lining. The canopies, crafted in Titania’s signature showerproof fabrics, are teamed with frames constructed in FSC hardwood from the Far East. For those that hanker after the more traditional cotton alternative, we can entertain bespoke orders.
We also welcome enquiries regarding our beautiful, bespoke, Indian tents, again offered in a choice of materials, designs and colourways.
We value greatly the wonderful and close working relationships we have with our suppliers, especially the fabulously talented team at INKA, in India. Through our collaboration, some of their designs are incorporated in our collection, whilst their talented craftspeople work painstakingly to interpret Charlotte’s artwork. From inspiration, to a hand drawing on paper to printing on cloth, the process is supported by experienced carvers of wood blocks and silk screen makers; colourists and printers. The joy of block print never ceases to delight us and we hope you too will be inspired.
Our collection also embodies the crafts of hand embroidery; hand painting; weaving and fine tailoring.
