grew out of a passion for hand block printed and crafted textiles and an equal love of the Indian tent. Combined with this is the unbridled joy of al fresco dining and the pleasure of living with things imbued with the soul of craftsmanship.
Life has got in the way of the business for the past few years but, like a butterfly from a chrysalis, we emerge again this Summer! Printed and tailored in India, our garden umbrellas have removable canopies with a canvas outer and an integral hand printed lining, all of which is now showerproof and ideal for the British climate. All umbrella frames are crafted in a heavy duty hardwood. For those that hanker after the more traditional cotton alternative, we can entertain bespoke orders. We also welcome enquiries regarding our beautiful Indian tents, again offered in a choice of materials, designs and colourways.
We are lucky enough to have forged a wonderful and close working relationship with the fabulously talented team at INKA, in India. Through our collaboration some of their designs are incorporated in our collection, whilst their talented craftspeople work painstakingly to interpret Charlotte’s artwork. From inspiration, to a hand drawing on paper to printing on cloth, the process is supported by experienced woodblock makers; colourists and printers. The joy of block print never ceases to delight us and we hope you too will be inspired.
Our collection also embodies the crafts of hand embroidery; hand painting; weaving and fine tailoring.
Our charity of choice for 2022 is Woodland Trust and we are proud to be part of the UK’s national effort to plant trees to mark the Queen’s 70th Jubilee. A percentage of each umbrella purchase will go to furthering Britain’s natural living canopy.
